The show was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari, and in her keynote address, she said, “Jaipur is synonymous with jewellery and JJS has become a much-awaited annual event on the calendar. The gems and jewellery industry is a great support to the economy and it directly employs 200,000 individuals. The industry also plays a big role in “repeat tourism” as people come to Jaipur from across the globe to buy jewellery.”

The Deputy CM further said that the JJS gives opportunities to craftsmen, budding designers and young jewellers which is praiseworthy. The time has come to take the show to the next level, and it should mark its presence internationally by planning shows in other countries, just like the Jaipur Literature Festival, she added. She also assured the JJS team of the support from the Government for the gems & jewellery industry.

The Guest of Honour, Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, said that 2023 was a challenging year for the gems and jewellery industry owing to the geopolitical concerns and economic downturn. However, the industry has bounced back and is experiencing a gradual but significant rise. “As associations and bodies of this huge industry, our objective has been the same – to take this sector to even greater heights,” he said, adding, “The GJEPC and the industry bodies are jointly undertaking various initiatives such as the establishment of the diamond bourse in Surat and the upcoming Gem Bourse in Jaipur, which will make India a key global hub in this sector.”

JJS Honorary Secretary, Rajiv Jain recapitulated the highlights and traditions of this year’s JJS, which had grown from a mere 67 booths in 2003, to 1100+ booths this year.

Chairman of National Gems and Jewellery Council of India, Pramod Derewala said that the gem & jewellery industry of Jaipur is contributing towards the economy of the state as well as the country by way of foreign exchange earnings, tax revenue and employment generation.

In his welcome address, Chairman JJS, Vimal Chand Surana said that the Jaipur royal family has been a huge supporter of the gems and jewellery industry in the city. “JJS is an important and progressive show and has grown from strength to strength over the years.”

The theme for this year’s JJS was ‘Emerald… Your Stone Your Story’. To promote emeralds, a group of 15 members was formed as the Emerald Promotion Group with Gemfields as the prime emerald promotion partner.

Visitors at JJS expressed interest in jewellery-related products and machinery, where 68 prominent vendors showcased allied machinery for jewellery manufacturing at their booths.

An exclusive B2B Traders Pavilion ‘Pink Club’ was introduced at JJS 2022, which was the main attraction at JJS. Keeping in mind the convenience of the visitors, this year the Pink Club was built at a new location as a part of Hall 2 with more space. As per business preference, visitors were able to avail themselves of the services at this club. Only B2B customers were able to visit this pavilion for B2B interaction.

JJS concluded on 25th December with a Valedictory Ceremony. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Dr Prem Chand Bairwa. He said that the JJS has created a name for itself not just in the country but across the world. It is not just a platform for business but also showcases and nurtures the skills of young designers and students.

He also announced the upcoming edition of JJS, which will be held from 20 to 23 December 2024.
